The official AILET 2027 notification was released on July 23, 2026, by NLU Delhi. The AILET exam date 2027 falls one week after CLAT 2027.

AILET 2027 Eligibility Criteria

The AILET eligibility criteria are primarily based on two factors:

Educational Qualification

AILET is open to all applicants who have passed the 10+2 or an equivalent examination. The minimum marks required for each category are as follows:

• Minimum of 45% marks in class 12th for General and 42% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer).
• Minimum of 40% marks in class 12th for the SC/ST and PwD (Persons with Disability) categories.
• Foreign Nationals must have a minimum of 65% marks in Class 12 or equivalent. Foreign Nationals are NOT required to appear for AILET; admission is based on merit directly.
• OCI/PIO candidates can apply either as an Indian National (must appear for AILET, same marks criteria as above) or under the OCI/PIO category (exempt from the test, admission based on qualifying exam marks) - these require separate applications and cannot be combined.

For LL.M. (1-Year): Candidates must hold an LL.B. degree with a minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD). Candidates appearing in their final year LL.B. are also eligible to apply.

Note: Candidates awaiting their 10+2 results can also apply, but must meet the eligibility criteria by the cut-off date (published with the result notification). Candidates placed in compartment during the admission year will be considered ineligible.

Age Limit

AILET doesn't have an age limit. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements, you can take the exam. There is also no limit on the number of attempts; candidates can appear for AILET any number of times.

The last date to submit the AILET 2027 application form is 10 November 2026. An application is complete only after the fee is paid, and an admit card is issued only to candidates whose application is complete.

You must pay the prescribed application fee while submitting the AILET 2027 application form. The fee differs according to your category.

AILET 2027 Exam Pattern

The AILET 2027 exam pattern has remained consistent over the past several years, and NLU Delhi has not announced any changes for 2027. The paper has 150 MCQs to be attempted in 120 minutes, with no sectional time limit.

Note: AILET does not have a separate Legal Reasoning section unlike many other law entrance exams. Legal principles may appear within the Logical Reasoning section to test logical aptitude, but no prior knowledge of law is required to answer these questions.

AILET 2027 Marking Scheme

AILET 2027 Tie-Breaking & Selection Process

1. The candidate with the higher Logical Reasoning score is ranked higher. Logical Reasoning is both the highest-weightage section and the first tiebreaker.
2. If the Logical Reasoning scores are also equal, the older candidate is given precedence.
3. If no difference remains after that, an automated draw of lots is conducted.

Logical Reasoning is the most important section in AILET. It carries 47% of the total marks and serves as the first tiebreaker. Aspirants must prioritise this section above all others.

AILET 2027 Syllabus

AILET 2027 shall be conducted in offline mode, where the paper will have 150 questions from three(3) different subjects, including:

• English Language   (50 questions; 50 marks)
• Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks)
• Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks)

How to Prepare for AILET 2027?

AILET 2027 preparation should focus on speed, accuracy and section-wise practice, as the exam has 150 questions to be attempted in 120 minutes, with Logical Reasoning carrying the highest weightage of 70 marks.

• Logical Reasoning needs the most preparation time because it carries 70 marks. Candidates should practise analytical reasoning, arguments, assumptions, conclusions and principle-based questions. Legal principles may be tested within this section, so the focus should be on applying the given principle rather than memorising legal concepts.
• For English, timed practice in reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammar helps with understanding passages quickly and eliminating options.
• Current Affairs & GK should be covered regularly: major national and international events, government initiatives, awards, appointments, important reports, sports and significant legal or constitutional developments. Regular revision works better than last-minute preparation.
• Previous-year papers show recurring question types, difficulty level and time requirements. Candidates can solve the AILET PYQs and analyse every mistake instead of only checking the score.

AILET 2027 Admit Card

Once the AILET 2027 Admit Card is released, Candidates who have registered, submitted their application form, and paid the fees will be able to download their AILET admit card. The admit card is a required document for taking the test. It comprises information such as the roll number and exam center.

How to Download AILET Admit Card 2027

Once the admit card is out. Candidates can download their AILET admit card 2027 by following the steps outlined below.

• Step 1: Navigate to the NLUD official website.
• Step 2: Click on the candidate login tab.
• Step 3: Enter your registration ID and password to log in.
• Step 4: Click on the AILET 2027 admit card download link on the candidate's site.
• Step 5: The AILET 2027 admit card will show on the screen.
• Step 6: Carefully examine all the information on the admit card.
• Step 7: Download and print the AILET admit card for future reference.

Important: No hard copy of the AILET admit card will be dispatched by post. Candidates must download it from the official portal only. Carry a colour printout of the admit card along with a valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, etc.) on the day of the exam.

AILET 2027 Exam Centres

AILET exam centers are located in multiple cities throughout India. Candidates can choose their exam location when filling out the AILET Application Form. The AILET exam center cannot be changed after it has been allocated. Candidates should carefully choose their preferred exam location and ensure that they can readily get there on the day of the exam.

AILET 2027 Results

The AILET 2027 results will be declared by National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi), expected in the 4th week of December 2026, shortly after the exam. Candidates can compare their score with past outcomes in the AILET marks vs rank analysis to estimate a likely rank.

How to Check the AILET 2027 Results?

Follow these steps to download your scorecard once the result is declared:

1. Visit the official NLU Delhi website.
2. Click on the 'AILET Result' link on the homepage or under the Admissions section.
3. Enter your Registration ID and Password to log in.
4. Your AILET 2027 scorecard will appear on the screen.
5. Verify all details carefully: name, roll number, category, and marks.
6. Download the scorecard as a PDF and save it on your device.
7. Take at least one colour printout for use during counselling and document verification.

AILET 2027 Counselling

Candidates who clear the AILET 2027 cut-off are invited for counselling by NLU Delhi, based on the AILET merit list. The process is conducted entirely online, across multiple rounds.

The AILET Counselling process is as follows:

• Step 1 - Counselling Invite: Eligible candidates receive an invite via email/SMS on their registered mobile number and email ID, based on their AILET rank and category.
• Step 2 - Online Registration: Log in to the official NLU Delhi counselling portal and complete the registration form within the specified window.
• Step 3 - Pay the Counselling Registration Fee: Pay the fee (see table below) via net banking, UPI, or debit/credit card.
• Step 4 - Document Upload: Upload the required documents, including your AILET admit card, scorecard, and Class 10/12 mark sheets.
• Step 5 - Provisional Merit List: NLU Delhi releases a provisional merit list. Candidates on the list must pay the seat confirmation fee within the deadline for that round to secure their seat.
• Step 6 - Subsequent Rounds: Candidates not allotted a seat continue into later rounds, until all seats are filled.
