Every year, Symbiosis International University organizes the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). If you plan to take the SLAT 2024 next year, you should go over the complete syllabus.

The exam has five sections in total and follows a very similar structure to the CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) exam. The sections are as follows:

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Reading Comprehension
  • General Knowledge
  • Legal Reasoning
  • Analytical Reasoning

Let’s now look at the section-wise syllabus of the 5 sections that are in SLAT. Starting with Logical Reasoning.

SLAT Logical Reasoning Syllabus

The Logical Reasoning section of SLAT assesses the candidate's analytical abilities and capacity to recognize patterns, correct/logical arguments, and establish logical relationships. Previously, 15 questions were asked in this question; however, the number of questions has been decreased to 12. Some of the major topics in the Logical Reasoning section include:

SLAT Reading Comprehension Syllabus

The Reading Comprehension section of SLAT is designed to assess applicants' English abilities through passage comprehension and grammar. It comprises three essential sections: Grammar, Vocabulary, and Reading Comprehension. Some of the major topics in the Reading Comprehension section include:

SLAT General Knowledge Syllabus

The GK section of SLAT is divided into two sections: Current affairs and General Knowledge. In terms of the syllabus and the questions asked it’s very similar to the CLAT exam. To ace this section it’s vital to study the current events happening worldwide along with brushing up your GK knowledge. Some of the major topics in the General Knowledge section include:

SLAT Legal Reasoning Syllabus

As the entire point of SLAT is to take admission in law courses, candidates must be very familiar with the legal issues. The Legal Reasoning portion of SLAT assesses your understanding of legal principles and tests your fundamental understanding of law. The questions in the section are of three types: Legal Reasoning, Legal Knowledge, and Assertion and Reasoning. Some of the major topics in the Legal Reasoning section include:

SLAT Syllabus 2024: Preparation Tips

Candidates can follow some of the preparation tips listed below to help them perform well in the SLAT 2024 exam.

  • Create an adequate study plan by familiarizing yourself with the exam pattern and difficulty level of the paper.
  • Practice solving issues using SLAT sample papers and mock tests to enhance speed and comfort level with the questions. 
  • Try to answer as many questions accurately as possible in as little time as possible. Practicing questions in a timed manner will aid in time management and help you with studying on a schedule and not randomly.
  • Read newspapers and law journals to stay updated on events in the real world, particularly on the subject of law.
  • Getting familiar with how online exams are conducted might help get accustomed to the process and ease tension while taking the exam.

FAQs

The SLAT exam will be held for admission to SLS Pune's BA LLB/BBA LLB courses as well as other law schools in the Symbiosis group, including SLS Hyderabad, SLS Nagpur, and SLS Noida.

The SLAT 2024 exam will be conducted in online mode.

There are five sections in SLAT, namely: Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, and Analytical Reasoning.

Since there is no negative marking, candidates should attempt all questions. The predicted cutoff is between 40 and 50 points. Although it’s different for each law school.
