The CLAT Rank List 2027 is one of the biggest things a law aspirant looks for after the result is announced. A candidate gets a score based on how they performed in the exam, but it is the All India Rank that gives them entry into the National Law Universities (NLUs).
At CL-LST, we understand the worry and expectations that come with the rank list. In this blog, we explain what the CLAT 2027 rank list is, how it is prepared, how to read it, and how it affects NLU admission and counselling.
Table of Contents
The CLAT rank list is the official merit list published by the Consortium of NLUs after the exam. It ranks every candidate by the marks scored in CLAT 2027. The Consortium then uses these ranks for:
So when you get your scorecard, look at the rank first. A score of 95 can mean a very different rank in a tough year and an easy year.
Ranks are given in order of total marks scored in the exam. The person with the highest marks gets AIR 1, and the list goes down from there.
If two or more candidates have the same marks, the Consortium breaks the tie in this order:
In practice, this means Legal Reasoning is the one section that can move you up or down in a close race. Do not skip it while practising the other four sections.
The Consortium publishes more than one rank, because different seats are filled in different ways.
| Rank list | Who it is for |
| All India Rank (AIR) | All candidates. This is the main rank used for NLU admission |
| Category-wise rank | Separate lists for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwD candidates |
| NRI / NRI-sponsored rank | Only NRI and NRI-sponsored applicants |
If you come under a reserved category, track your category rank along with your AIR when you plan your counselling.
The link will go live on the official website after the CLAT result is declared. Once it does:
Your scorecard shows your section-wise marks, total score, and qualifying status.
This section will list the All India Ranks of CL-LST students once the results are out. Check back after the result is declared.

Your rank decides three things:
From what we have seen in past years, students with top ranks usually get a seat in a top NLU in the first rounds. Students in the middle range gain the most from a careful preference list. Students with lower ranks still have a chance in the later rounds and through vacancy lists, so do not drop out of counselling early.
Counselling starts once the rank list is public. The steps are:
The CLAT 2027 rank list will be out after the 6 December exam. Until then, bookmark this page. We will add the merit list PDF link and the ranks of our students as soon as they are live.

Is the CLAT 2027 rank list out?
No. CLAT 2027 will be held on 6 December 2026, and the rank list comes after the result.
When will the CLAT 2027 rank list be released?
The Consortium has not announced the date. Reports say the result may come about a week after the exam. We will update this page when it is confirmed.
Where can I check the CLAT 2027 rank list?
On the official website of the Consortium of NLUs, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
What is the tie-breaker rule in CLAT 2027?
Higher marks in Legal Reasoning come first, then higher age, and then a computerised draw of lots.
Do I need to check both AIR and category rank?
Yes, if you belong to a reserved category. AIR is used for general seats and the category rank is used for reserved seats.
