AILET Exam Eligibility (UG)

The eligibility AILET (UG) program for the B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) course is given below.

AILET Education Qualifications

  • Candidates must have graduated from a recognized institute with a minimum of 45% in their class 12 examinations.
  • SC/ST/PWD applicants must have at least a 40% aggregate score in the class 12 examination.
  • Candidates belonging to the Foreign Nationals Category should have 65% or more in the Higher Secondary School Examination of the (10+2) system or in an equivalent examination.

Candidates who have finished and passed their class 12 examinations in the April/May 2025 session are also eligible to apply for the AILET 2026 exam.

AILET Age Limit

The exam has no age limit. Candidates can appear for the exam as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

AILET Tie-Breaking Rule

The tie-breaking rule is as follows:

  • If two or more applicants receive the same marks in the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), their merit will be evaluated based on the number of marks in the Logical Reasoning section of AILET 2026.
  • If the merit remains the same, the older applicant will be given preference. If there is still no change in merit, the automated draw of lots will be considered.

The eligibility AILET (PG) program for the LL.M. (One-Year) Program is given below.

AILET Education Qualifications (PG)

  • Candidates must possess an LL.B. degree or an equivalent legal degree with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognized institute.
  • SC/ST/PWD candidates must have an LL.B. degree with a minimum aggregate score of 44%.
  • Candidates belonging to the Foreign Nationals Category must have an LL.B. or equivalent degree from an institute recognized by UGC or from the Association of Indian Universities with a minimum of 55% aggregate score.

Candidates who are currently enrolled in/awaiting the results of their LL.B. degree program may also apply and take the Entrance Test. However, such applicants' eligibility must be achieved before the cutoff date, which will be published together with the Notification of Entrance Test Result.

AILET Age Limit (PG)

The exam has no age limit. Candidates can appear for the exam as long as they meet the eligibility criteria.

AILET Tie-Breaking Rule (PG)

If two or more applicants receive the same marks, the merit rank will be determined using the following criteria:

  • Age of the candidate (Older passes)
  • If there is still no change in merit, a computerized draw of lots will be done.

AILET 2026 Exam Form

Candidates who fulfill the exam's eligibility criteria can proceed to complete the AILET 2026 application form, which will begin from August 1, 2025.

Candidates who fail to pay the exam fee will not be given entrance to the exam venue. AILET 2026 admit card will be provided only to those who have successfully submitted their application form and paid the fees.

AILET 2026 Preparation Tips

Any competitive exam poses some challenges to a student. So its preparation requires extra effort than what is taught or put in the school.

The following are some AILET preparation tips that students should know and take care of.

  • Try to complete the AILET syllabus in advance, almost 2-3 months before the final exam.
  • Find overlaps between the school, CLAT, & AILET syllabi to minimize effort.
  • Leave the last 3 months for mock-taking and refining your AILET-taking strategy.
