The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLUs) issued the CLAT 2025 notification on July 20, 2025. The notification declared the exam date for CLAT 2026 and other important events for the academic year 2026-31

In line with the notification, the Consortium opened the application form for CLAT 2026 aspirants at noon on August 1, 2025. 

Candidates are requested to fill out the CLAT registration form online at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. However, the exam is conducted in offline mode like every year.

The notification did not indicate a pattern or syllabus change, so the exam is likely to follow the same section structure. In fact, over the past 2 years, the Consortium has prepared the exam with the same number of questions in each section, so below are the five sections with the number of questions in each.

  • Current Affairs including General Knowledge – 28 
  • Legal Reasoning – 32
  • Logical Reasoning – 24
  • Quantitative techniques – 12

CLAT 2026 Eligibility 

As per the latest notification, candidates who want to take CLAT 2026 must fulfill the NLU Consortium’s exam eligibility. 

The entrance requirements for participating universities for CLAT 2026 are generally the same. The following are the qualifying requirements for CLAT 2026:

UG-CLAT Eligibility

  • Candidates must have completed their Class 12th from a recognized board and institute. Candidates must have received at least 45% in their Class 12th grade. SC and ST candidates with 40% in Class 12th grade are eligible.
  • There is no age limit or restriction on how often an individual can attempt CLAT for UG.

CLAT Application Form 2026 for Registration 

The following points are important while signing up for CLAT 2026 registration.

  1. The application form for CLAT 2026 was released on August 1, 2025, on the official CLAT website at consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  2. Candidates register by creating a login account with an email address or a personal mobile number.
  3. Filling out the form completely is necessary, including spelling the student’s name and other information. Meanwhile, if any changes are found, the student may be disqualified.
  4. Needless to mention, applicants must submit their applications on time as the applications are not accepted beyond the deadline, which is October 31, 2025, for CLAT 2026.
  5. At the time of application, the aspirant should additionally indicate their preference order for all participating NLUs. Select carefully, as changes later won’t be allowed.
  6. Aspirants must upload self-attested scanned copies of the necessary certificates to the online application form.
  7. Students who want to get prior CLAT question papers must fill out an additional form and pay an additional cost.
  8. Candidates must furnish information on their Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets during the CLAT application procedure. It is advised that you keep this information handy.
  9. Students should have documentation such as Aadhar cards, PAN cards, driver’s licenses, passports, and so on to prove their identification.

Once the registration starts, follow these steps for CLAT registration.

  • Visit the CLAT 2026 official website.
  • Select the new registration link.
  • Register with your email address and phone number.
  • Fill out the application form with personal information, communication information, academic information, exam center preference, and NLU preference.
  • Fill out the CLAT application and pay the registration cost.
  • The CLAT Admit Card will be released in the month of November, around 15 November.
