MAH-LLB Preparation: Section-wise Guide
As mentioned before, the MAH-LLB examination syllabus is broken into five sections. Below are important topics and preparation tips for each section of the exam.
English Language
The English Language section in MH CET Law is objective in nature (MCQ-based) and tests your comprehension and language fundamentals.
Important topics include:
- Reading Comprehension
- Grammar (Tenses, Articles, Prepositions, Sentence Correction)
- Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms, Idioms, One-word Substitution)
- Sentence Rearrangement and Verbal Ability
Preparation Tips for English Language
- Focus on reading comprehension:
This section usually includes short passages followed by questions. Practice identifying the central idea, tone, and key details. Work on improving reading speed without compromising accuracy.
- Strengthen grammar fundamentals:
Revise core grammar rules such as parts of speech, subject-verb agreement, modifiers, and sentence correction. Regular practice of error-detection questions will improve accuracy.
- Build your vocabulary daily:
Read newspapers, editorials, and quality articles to learn new words in context. Maintain a vocabulary notebook and revise it consistently.
- Practice mock tests and previous year questions:
Since the section is MCQ-based, accuracy and time management are crucial. Solve previous year MH CET Law papers to understand the pattern of questions.
Current Affairs and General Knowledge
The Current Affairs and General Knowledge section of MH CET Law 2026 includes questions from the following areas:
- Recent national and international events
- Current legal and constitutional developments
- Important Government schemes and policies
- Maharashtra-specific news and developments
- Static General Knowledge (History, Geography, Polity, Economics)
- Arts and Culture
- Important personalities and awards
- Science and Technology
- Sports and major tournaments
Follow these preparation tips to ace the Current Affairs and General Knowledge section of the exam.
- Focus on Maharashtra-specific developments:
Since the exam is conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra, candidates should stay updated with significant events, government schemes, and legal developments related to Maharashtra.
- Read newspapers consistently:
Make it a habit to read a quality newspaper daily. Focus on national affairs, legal updates, Supreme Court and High Court judgments, government policies, and international developments.
- Revise monthly current affairs regularly:
Instead of only reading daily news, compile monthly current affairs notes and revise them systematically.
- Strengthen static GK alongside current affairs:
Do not ignore static subjects such as Indian Polity, Modern History, Geography, and basic Economics, as questions are often linked to current events.
- Solve previous year questions:
Go through past MH CET Law papers to understand the weightage and type of GK questions asked.
Legal Reasoning
The Legal Reasoning section of MH CET Law 2026 primarily tests your ability to apply legal principles to factual situations. Questions are principle-based and objective (MCQ format).
Important areas include:
- Legal Aptitude and principle-fact questions

- Important legal terms and maxims
- Recent legal developments and landmark judgments (basic awareness level)
Follow these preparation tips to ace the Legal Reasoning section of the exam.
- Understand the principle–fact approach:
Most questions provide a legal principle followed by a factual situation. Your task is to apply the principle logically to the facts — not rely on personal opinion or outside knowledge.
- Build clarity in basic legal concepts:
Focus on fundamental areas such as Constitutional Law, Law of Torts, Contracts, Criminal Law (basic concepts only), and important legal terminology.
- Do not overcomplicate statutory study:
You are not expected to memorise bare acts in detail. Instead, concentrate on understanding how legal rules are applied in practical scenarios.
- Stay updated with major legal developments:
Have a general awareness of important Supreme Court judgments, constitutional amendments, and significant legal reforms.
- Practice previous year papers extensively:
Legal Reasoning improves with practice. Solve past MH CET Law papers to understand the framing of principle-based questions and improve accuracy under time pressure.

- Seating arrangement (basic level)
- Statement and conclusion

- Practice time-bound question sets:
This section requires speed. Solve sectional mock tests and practice sets regularly to improve efficiency under time pressure.
- Analyse your mistakes carefully:
After every practice session, review incorrect answers to identify patterns in your errors. Work on weak areas consistently.
- Solve previous year MH CET Law papers:
Going through past papers helps you understand the level of difficulty and the most frequently asked question types.
