NLU Odisha was set up in the year 2009. It has been a vibrant addition to the India's national law universities. In a short span of six years it has made its mark as a university engaged in teaching and research in law. NLU Odisha aims to develop in the students and scholars social and scientific research skills for enhancing a sense of responsibility to serve society as committed advocates and also develop skills relating to the profession of law. NLU Odisha's Library houses a collection of 13,165 books about 1793 primary legal texts and more than a hundred law reports, academic journals and the like amounting to a total of 6429 individual volumes. In addition to the above the NLUO library has 11 databases including SCC online, Manupatra, Hein Online, Westlaw India, JSTOR, Kluwer Arbitration and Economic and Political Weekly among others.

NLU Odisha B.A. LLB, BB.A LL.B Honors

NLU Odisha offers a five year-integrated B.A., BB.A LL.B programme that combines training in law with knowledge of the social sciences. The liberal arts component of the B.A.LL.B program includes five arts subjects (Political Science, Sociology, Economics, English and Mass Communication), which are supplemented by a range of law courses; and together they provide a broad-based multidisciplinary foundation to the curricula.

NLU Odisha B.A. LLB, BB.A LL.B Honors Eligibility:

A candidate for admission to the B.A, LL.B (Hons.) Degree Course shall have:

  • Passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an examination equivalent thereto securing in the first attempt, not less than 45% (40% in the case of SC/ST candidates and persons with disability) in the aggregate
  • There is no age limit as per the 2017 rules

Note: Those who do not clear the qualifying examination with the requisite marks are not eligible for admission.

  • Degree in Law and a Masters Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities, Management Studies or Sciences from any recognized University with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent in grade; or
  • Obtained a Degree in Law and a Masters Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities, Management Studies or Sciences from any recognized University with 50% marks and have had at least five years full-time teaching/judicial/professional/administrative experience in the subject;
  • or obtained a Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Sciences, Humanities or Management from any recognize University with 55% marks and have had at least two years of teaching experience; or
  • Ph.D. in any discipline; or
  • Judge of any State High Court in India or the Supreme Court of India
