About AIL

Army Institute of Law (AIL) came into existence in the year 1999 by the Indian Army under the umbrella of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The Mohali campus was inaugurated in the year 2003 by the then president Mr APJ Abdul Kalam. The institute aims to impart high quality legal education and professional training to its students. There are various student societies present at the institute such as Moot Court Society, Debating Society, Cultural society, Sports Committee etc. The Library at AIL has subscription to various online databases like Manupatra, Lexis Nexis, Westlaw, Scconline, and Heinonline.

Getting into AIL

For B.A. LL.B

  • The admission to the course is based on merit determined through the law entrance test conducted by the institute (AIL LET)

AIL Eligibility

For B.A. LL.B

  • A candidate who has passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board or any other equivalent examination recognized as such by the Punjabi University, Patiala, securing at least 45% marks vide Punjabi University Letter No.216468/Meeting-4 dated 7 May 2004. The applicants who have obtained 10+2 through open university systems directly, without having any basic qualifications for pursuing such studies, are not eligible for admission in Law Courses

For LL.M

  • Admission will be based on merit. As per Punjabi University norms, minimum 55% marks in BA LLB (5 years) or LLB (3 years) are required for seeking admission to the course
