About SOL

School of Law is a constituent school among school of engineering, school of business, school of planning and architecture at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES). It was established in the year 2007. The objective at SOL is to produce competent and strong legal professionals for the future. The program at SOL, enable students to develop strong legal acumen that would help them handle the complexities in legal matters of the entities they associate with and guide them through. The Library at SOL is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the forms of CD-ROMs, On–Line databases, video cassettes, books, journals, standards, theses, proceedings, reports, maps atlases etc.

Getting into SOL

SOL Results Accepted

For Undergraduate Programs

• The admission happens on the basis of merit list determined through UPES ULSAT
• For BA LLB (Hons.)/ BBA LLB (Hons.)/ B.Com, LLB (Hons)- Candidates with minimum 50% Marks in Higher & Senior Secondary (10th & 12th) and CLAT ranking upto 10000/
L-SAT India score of 60 percentile or above will be exempted from UPES Law Studies Aptitude test and will be invited directly for GD and Interview
• For B. Tech LLB (Hons.) Candidates with minimum 50% Marks in Higher & Senior Secondary (10th & 12th), minimum 50% Marks in PCM at Senior Secondary Level (12th) and CLAT ranking upto 10000/ L-SAT India score of 60 percentile or above will be exempted from UPES-EAT and admissions through Merit Ranking
• For BA LLB (Hons.)/ BBA LLB (Hons.)/B.Com LLB (Hons)- Candidates with 85% marks in 10th and 12th best of five subjects (English as one of the compulsory paper) are exempted from UPES Law Studies Aptitude Test (UL-SAT) and will be invited directly for GD and Interview
• For B.Tech LLB (Hons.) Candidates with minimum 70% marks in 10th, 12th and 12th PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Maths) are exempted from UPES-EAT and admissions will be through Merit Ranking

Note: Upto 20% seats shall be filled through Board Merit/ CLAT/ L-SAT India Category. In case, any seat remaining vacant UPES has the right to fill such seats through UPES Entrance Exam.

For Postgraduate Program

• The admission is on the basis of merit determined through UPES LLM online test conducted by the University
• Candidates with minimum 50% Marks in Higher & Senior Secondary (10th & 12th)& LLB degree and CLAT ranking AIR upto 1000 will be exempted from UPES LLM online test and will be directly shortlisted to join the LLM program

SOL Eligibility

For B.B.A/B.Com./B.Sc/B.A.,LL.B (Hons)

• Minimum 50% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary Level (10th & 12th)

For B.Tech, LL.B (Hons.)

• Minimum 50% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary Level (10th & 12th)
• Minimum 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at Senior Secondary Level (12th)

For LL.M

• Minimum 50% marks at Higher & Senior Secondary Level (10th & 12th) and LLB Degree

For Research Degrees

PhD

• LLM degree with at least 60% marks or an equivalent grade from class 10 onwards. Practicing professionals may, however, be granted relaxation up to 5% in aggregate marks at LLM provided they have 5 years or more of professional experience*. (For instance a person with 55% marks in LLM degree with 5 years or more experience would be considered equivalent to a person with 60% marks at LLM but having no work experience)
• LLB with Master's degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade from class 10 and onwards having minimum of 3 years or more para-legal research or professional experience

Higher Doctoral Degree Program

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph D) degree in Engineering / Science / Management / Law or any other equivalent qualification approved by the Academic Council of this University
• Minimum 08 years of total relevant experience, out of which at least 05 years of post Ph D experience in Industry/Academics
