BHU Law School – Seat Intake & Fee Structure

Being a Central University, BHU offers its law programmes at highly subsidised fee levels compared to most private and deemed law universities in India. The table below is sourced directly from the official BHU Undergraduate Admissions Information Bulletin 2026 (Academic Session 2026-27).

Notes:

• B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) is classified as a Special Course at BHU. The fee of Rs. 36,150 per semester is the total special course fee per semester as published in the BHU UG Bulletin 2026 for the Faculty of Law (FMC - Faculty Main Campus).
• Sports Quota: 2 supernumerary sports seats are available under B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) as per the BHU UG Bulletin 2026.
• * LL.M. (One Year) includes a special course fee of Rs. 60,000/- per annum over and above regular University fees.
• Hostel fees are charged separately and are not included above. 
• All fees are subject to revision by the University.

BHU Law School – Eligibility Criteria & Admission Process

B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) - 5 Year

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent from a recognised board.
• Minimum marks: 50% for General, 45% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST.
• Candidates who obtained 10+2 through open university systems directly, without the basic qualifications required to pursue such studies, are not eligible, as per the Bar Council of India's directives.
• Candidates appearing in their qualifying examination may apply provisionally, subject to the fulfilment of eligibility at the time of admission.

Admission Process:

• Admission is made on merit in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
• After CUET-UG, candidates must apply through BHU's Common Allotment Program (CAP-UG) for seat allocation.
• Foreign Nationals are exempted from CUET-UG and apply through the Foreign Students' Registry; admission is merit-based under the foreign nationals' quota.

Seat Intake: 104 seats (General + Reserved categories)

LL.B. (Hons.) - 3 Year

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed a Graduate or Post-Graduate degree from a recognised university.
• Candidates who obtained graduation through open university systems directly, without basic qualifications, are not eligible, as per BCI directives.
• Candidates appearing in their final year of graduation may apply provisionally, subject to fulfilment of eligibility at the time of admission.

Admission Process:

• Admission is made on merit in BHU's Undergraduate Entrance Test (UET), conducted by Banaras Hindu University.
• The UET paper is of 120 minutes duration, carrying 450 marks, with 150 multiple-choice questions covering: General Awareness & Current Affairs, Common Legal Knowledge, Aptitude & Mental Ability, and Language Comprehension (Hindi or English - candidate must answer only one language set).

Seat Intake: As notified by BHU in the Information Bulletin for the relevant admission year.

Documents Required for Admission

Candidates selected for admission are required to submit the following documents:

• Duly certified transcript of scholastic record from High School/equivalent onwards
• Original Transfer Certificate (from institution last attended)
• Original Migration Certificate (if not enrolled at BHU)
• Caste / Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), if applicable
• PwBD Certificate issued by District CMO, if applicable
• BHU Employee Ward Certificate (in prescribed format from Dy. Registrar – Administration), if applicable
• Character/Conduct Certificate from Head of Institution last attended
• CUET / PET / CRET Admit Card and Score Card (as applicable)
• For LL.M.: Marksheets of all semesters/years of LL.B./equivalent degree
