CNLU – Courses Offered

CNLU offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral law programmes. The five-year integrated undergraduate B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) degree programmes are the flagship degrees at CNLU, offering students training in a range of legal and non-legal subjects. CNLU – Fee Structure (Academic Year 2024-25)

The fee structure below applies to 2nd and 3rd Year students of B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) courses. 

Mode of Payment: Fee is payable exclusively through the ICICI Bank Payment Gateway using the Roll Number provided by the University. No other mode of payment is accepted.

Additional charges (if applicable): Air Conditioner - INR 20,000/year; Air Cooler - INR 4,000/year, over and above standard electricity charges.

Fee structure is subject to revision.

CNLU Eligibility Criteria

For B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) [5-Year Integrated Course]:

• Admission is through CLAT (Common Law Admission Test).
• Candidates must have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) or an equivalent examination, securing not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST candidates).
• There is no upper age limit for admission to the 5-year integrated LLB programmes as per the updated rules.

For 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.):

• Admission is through CNLU's own admission process (direct admission portal: ugadmission.cnlu.ac.in).
• Candidates must hold a graduate degree with minimum required aggregate marks.

For LL.M. (1-Year):

• Candidates must hold an LL.B. degree or equivalent.
• Admission is based on CNLU's LL.M. Entrance Examination.

For Ph.D.:

• Candidates must hold an LL.M. degree or equivalent postgraduate degree.
• Admission is through a written entrance test and interview.

CNLU – Admission Process

Admission to B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) at CNLU is done through CLAT conducted by the Consortium of NLUs. CNLU strictly follows the admission criteria and counselling schedule laid down by the CLAT Consortium.

How to Get Admission in CNLU Through CLAT:

• Register for CLAT UG on the official Consortium of NLUs portal at consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
• Appear for the CLAT examination on the scheduled date.
• After the result declaration, participate in the CLAT centralised counselling process.
• Fill in your NLU preferences and select CNLU, Patna at the appropriate preference rank.
• Seats are allotted based on CLAT rank, category, and seat availability.
• Once allotted, complete the document verification and fee payment process as per CNLU's official admission schedule.

For 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.):

• Apply online at ugadmission.cnlu.ac.in.
• Appear for the CNLU Entrance Test (CNLU-ET 2026).
• Admission is based on merit in the entrance test, followed by document verification and fee payment.

CNLU – Seat Intake (2025-26)

The seat intake at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna for the academic year 2025-26 is as follows:

Foreign Nationals and NRI candidates may apply for additional seats through a separate admission process via www.cnlu.ac.in.

For UG (B.A./B.B.A., LL.B. and 3-Year LL.B.):

• Class 10 Marksheet / Date of Birth Certificate

• Transfer Certificate / Migration Certificate
• Character / Conduct Certificate from last attended institution
• Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC), if applicable
• PWD Certificate, if applicable
• EWS Certificate, if applicable
• Domicile / Residence Certificate, if applicable
• CLAT 2026 Admit Card and Score Card (for 5-year UG) / CNLU-ET Admit Card (for 3-year LL.B.)

For PG (LL.M.):
