CLAT 2014 Last Minutes Tips & Tricks

With just about a fortnight left for the Common Law Entrance Test (CLAT), it is the most crucial time for law school aspirants. The ones who’ll make the best of this time would walk through the hallowed portals of a law school and get to live their dream.

This is the time that would separate the victors from the whiners. Hence, it is important that you stay focused and determined. Do not set into a mode of complacency and think that you’ve done enough. Neither should you worry unnecessarily about the level of your preparation. Believe in all the hard work that you have put in and stay positive. Remember, the key to success is revision and without it, no preparation is of merit. Go through your notes and solve the problems again and again till you have them on your fingertips. After all, as the adage goes, ‘practice makes perfect’.

Given below are a few tips in this last leg of preparation that would help you stay focused and succeed:

  • Doubts: Come up with doubts. If you don’t have any, that’s great. However, if you do have a few, do not get disheartened. After all, mistakes and doubts only help you identify your weak areas and this knowledge of your weaknesses helps you streamline your preparation better. It is vital that the doubts are addressed at the earliest. Make a list of them. Flag them under varied headings. Check and re-read your modules. Find out whether doing this would quell your doubts. If the menace of doubts is still lurking, go ahead and feel free to discuss it with your faculty and friends. Make all mistakes and clarify all doubts at the time of your preparation only. There is no room for it when you face the exams.
  • Revision: No preparation is complete without revision. Revise again and again till you perfect all that you have read. Apart from GK, do not be tempted to read on new topics during this time. This will only confuse you and affect your confidence level. Try and ignore the “pearls of wisdom” that you may receive very often from people all around you. Do not think that the more you read, the more you would know. Concentrate on retaining what all you have read. However, when it comes to General Awareness, one should read as much as possible.
  • Practice: It is not likely that the questions in your exam would all be directly lifted from one of the mock test papers. Then what is the purpose of solving them? You all know the answer. The more you practice, the more you get acquainted with the type of questions asked and you won’t find yourself baffled a least bit at the time of your examination. So practice hard and practice a lot. Also, try solving the entire mock test within the stipulated time. Time yourself and if you find yourself slow, then address the reasons for the same.
  • Stay Positive: Do not waste your time thinking over failure or success. The job at hand is to study hard. Do your bit with dedication and have faith in your capabilities. Remember, ‘God helps those who help themselves’. Stay positive and work hard. Confidence and success would definitely come your way.

Wish you all a very best for the exams.
