Government Jobs after LLB 

Law graduates can opt for a number of government jobs after LLB. Those who qualify the exam are eligible to join the Indian defense forces, i.e. Indian Air Force, Indian Army, and the Indian Navy. They can also appear for exams like IAS organized by UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) or those conducted by SPSC (State Public Service Commission). Additionally, LLB graduates have the option of becoming an Assistant Public Prosecutor or Public Prosecutor.

Public Prosecutor or Assistant Public Prosecutor            

  • A public prosecutor is responsible for conducting legal proceedings on behalf of the state. They serve the ends of justice in the interest of the public. 
  • A public prosecutor should be impartial while carrying out his/her duties and should aim at assisting the court in order to provide the right judgement. 
  • A public prosecutor can either be appointed by the state government or the central government. They are appointed through an exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission or by the State Public Service Commission.

Legal Advisor 

After graduating, a student can join a law firm and practise as a legal advisor. Legal advisors primarily provide clients with legal advice. They are usually hired by the Government. 

Judge

  • A career in the judiciary system of India is also another prospect for an LLB graduate. This position requires them to qualify the judicial exam conducted by the Public Service Commission 
  • Judicial Service Examinations are competitive exams. Besides the subjects in the exams, one must also have in-depth knowledge of current affairs

Legislative Counsel 

  • Counsel is appointed in the Legislative department by the government. They are also recruited as commissioned officers for India’s defense forces, including the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. They conduct courts on inquiry as per the law. 
  • Job as a legislative counsel requires an aspirant to qualify the exam conducted by Public Service Commission. Certain legislative counsels are appointed in the official languages Wing of the Legislative Department for Hindi and other regional languages, including Oriya, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi, Urdu, etc.
