Introduction
About UPES: The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a first of its kind and a unique
university in the Pan Asian region. Born out of a unique vision, UPES aims to provide domain specific and
industry ready management, engineering and legal professionals, at the graduate, postgraduate and
doctoral levels. Since its inception in 2003, UPES has become the "Institute of Choice" for students and

About CoLS: The prestigious College of Legal Studies (CoLS) at UPES offers graduate programs for the candidates keen to pursue a legal career with a specialization in corporate and energy law in addition to regular legal studies. The program is designed to develop future legal professionals with the acumen to guide clients and corporate through the intricacies of regulatory framework, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and other legalese.

Recognition
Bar Council of India recognizes 5 years Integrated LLB from UPES
With the energy sector in India hotting up, and the entry of international firms, the need for specialized manpower is creating a plethora of career opportunities. University of Petroleum & Energy Studies is offering the Integrated 5-year BA LLB / BBA LLB Degree programs, which has been accorded recognition by the Bar Council of India.
The unique program from India’s first Energy University imparts legal knowledge with management acumen which is customized to the needs of the Energy sector. Besides equipping students for building career with big global firms in India, it will also prepare them to reap from the growing volume of legal work outsourced to Indian firms.
The program design is focused on serving the legal requirements of the Energy Industry and its recognition by the Bar Council of India adds to the eligibility to practice as licensed advocates as well.

The College of Legal Studies (CoLS) at UPES offers the following programs:

Now, for the first time in India, UPES has introduced two unique Integrated B.Tech. LLB programs, listed below.
Both these programs are approved by the Bar Council of India under its new rules of integrated programs.
- B.Tech. Energy Technology + LLB with emphasis on Intellectual Property Rights: This program equips the students to handle complex techno-legal issues in energy and allied sectors, and fulfill the fast emerging demand for protecting intellectual property rights being created in the Energy Sector, to sustain a long term competitive advantage.
- B. Tech. Computer Science + LLB with emphasis on Cyber Laws: This program provides a unique amalgam of Computer Science knowledge and Laws pertaining to Cyber world. Its significance arises from the rapid digitalization of almost all Industry sectors, which has also unfortunately led to rapid growth of cyber crime. These programs are designed to create that special breed of young professionals who can work in Energy and IT companies or law firms specializing in Engineering - IPR practice or in Cyber Law practice.

Campus Dehradun
Hostel
UPES has limited in-house hostel facilities on first-cum-first serve basis for boys at Dehradun. UPES has tie-up with certain hostel agencies for availing hostel facility for girls students in Dehradun city.
The students willing to avail hostel facility (whether outsourced or in-house) at Dehradun will have to deposit an amount of Rs.10,000 towards interest free security for hostel and an amount of Rs.70,000 for hostel fee for one Academic Year (2011-12). Students who have given consent to avail hostel facility will not be allowed to withdraw in any case during the academic year in progress and the fee shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
Students residing inside the campus will be provided Transportation facility to and fro to the city once a week. Girls students in Dehradun campus residing in outsourced accommodation will be provided Transportation facility to fro to the campus.

Integrated BA + LLB Programme: Students who have secured minimum 50% marks at Higher & Secondary levels (10th & 12th).
Integrated BBA + LLB Programme: Students who have secured minimum 50% marks at Higher & Secondary levels (10th & 12th).
Admission Criteria
UPES Law Studies Aptitude Test (UL-SAT) on 21 May 2011
Group Discussion & Interview for the selected candidates from UL-SAT.
Entrance Test: Admission is based on merit in the UPES Law Studies Aptitude Test (UL-SAT) to be held on Saturday May 21, 2011. If sufficient applications are not received for a particular centre, the University may change the centre of a candidate.
