Admission to the BA LLB (Hons.) course is based on an All India Entrance Test conducted each year.
The admission test is normally held on the 4th Sunday of May. The exact date will be released through the official admission notification. The level of questioning of the admission test is 10+2. The test will consist of questions covering English, Analytical reasoning, verbal reasoning, legal reasoning, legal aptitude and general knowledge.
The institute was set up in 2006 by an act of the Punjab Legislature. It offers both undergraduate and postgraduate law degrees. RGNUL is situated at Patiala in the state of Punjab, India.
The University has developed the entire Course Curriculum keeping in view the various developments taking place in the legal world. While drafting the Course Curriculum for the undergraduate classes, the emphasis has been to provide comprehensive instructions to the students. The total number of seats available for this course is 80.
Eligibility: An
applicant seeking admission to Ph.D. Degree programme must have
obtained a Masters Degree in Law from any recognized University
with not less then 55% Marks or its equivalent in grade.
Teaching Methodology: RGNUL, stands elevated not only
because of its location and ambience, but because of the revolutionary
changes that have been introduced in the curriculum, examination
pattern, evaluation process and teaching methodology.
The teaching methodology entails both intensive and extensive class room teaching and participative learning. The students are confronted with real life problems and are trained to acquire analytical and logical skills. Therefore, teaching methodology involves lectures, discussions, case studies, daily seminars and project works.
Education coupled with discipline, dedication and diligence are the benchmarks that RGNUL has attained in a very short span of time of less than a year.The University is fast developing and had organised its own Moot court competition this year.
The Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab is at present located at its interim location, Mohindra Kothi, The Mall, Patiala. Soon it will have its permanent campus.
Library: The RGNUL came into existence in the month of June 2006. With in a short span, the University has established a well-resourced Library in the Campus.
IT infrastructure:RGNUL Campus has a state-of-the-art computer
and internet centre. In order to provide a comprehensive Computer
knowledge to the students, the University has set up a fully air
conditioned Computer Lab with 30 computers and Internet Leased
Line facility.
As a part of future development, the University is planning to
have Video-Conferencing facility to facilitate and connect other
Law Schools in India and abroad.
Extra-Curriculars and Co-Curriculars
Campus has state-of-the-art fitness centre, designed exclusively for the students. In addition to Gymnasium, the students have been provided others sports facilities which includes Football, Table Tennis and Badminton.

Hostel accommodation at present has been arranged for both boys and girls at Government College of Education, Patiala. The Hostels are located at a distance of about 2 Kms from the campus. The University runs its own buses for the conveyance of the hostellers to take them to and from the campus to the hostel.
