The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU)

About NLIU

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU), was established by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwa Vidyalaya Adhiniyam, 1997 by an Act of the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature. NLIU is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India. NLIU was ranked fifth in India by The Week's "Top Law Colleges 2017". Faculties at NLIU use an inter-disciplinary approach for teaching students, in order to keep the students' minds from being narrowed down by formal logic of law and its divergence from practical life. Students are taught how to apply the theory they learn from textbooks to real life social problems, this way they are prepared for the practical use of law. Learning is through a combination of textbooks, classroom tuition, discussions, seminars and research project. The Library "GyanMandir" has a very rich collection of books, journals (national and internationals), e-resources like, Manupatra, AIR, SCC, Hein online, Lexis Nexis etc. It publishes three journals of its own, i.e., Indian Law Review, NLIU Journal of Intellectual Property Law and NLIU Law Review.
