NLAT 2020 (National law Aptitude Test)

NLAT 2020 will be conducted for the first time in 2020 by NLSIU (NLU Bangalore) to admit students for its five-year B.A LL. B program and one year LL.M program. Any student who seeks admission to NLSIU must apply directly to the University and complete the NLAT 2020 entrance examination. NLU Bangalore opted out of CLAT and will no longer be a part of CLAT consortium, and hence will not use CLAT 2020 scores for admission to various law courses provided by the law institute.

NLAT 2020 Latest Update:

NLU Bangalore has released the NLAT Answer Key 2020 for the NLAT 2020 exam conducted on September 12th, 2020. The answer key released by NLSUI for NLAT 2020 exam is the final one and candidates will not be able to challenge it. NLSUI had earlier accepted challenges / objections until 12th Sept. Candidates can now download question and final answer keys for National Law Aptitude Test 2020 by visiting official website nls.ac.in.

NLAT exam centers

NLU Bangalore has prearranged 14 test centers in 14 different cities for NLAT 2020.

Students who are unable to meet the NLAT 2020 test requirements may write the test at one of these 14 centers. Given below is a list of cities where exam centers will be made available of NLAT applicants. . Candidates can avail of this facility at a cost of Rs. 350.

NLAT online exam

System requirements for NLAT 2020 online exam

  • The candidates must download the “Safe Assessment Browser (SAB) Tool” which will be provided by the exam authorities.
  • Minimum internet requirement should be 512 Kbps.
  • Video conferencing services, screen sharing/ remote screen projection services, virtual machines are not allowed. Any candidate caught with such tools will stand disqualified.
  • Candidates are also not allowed to use any kind of wired/ wireless headphones/ earphones/ other audio devices.

The NLAT 2020 exam will be conducted in three slots on 12th September, 2020.

NLAT 2020 Registrations

NLAT 2020 aspirants can visit the official admission website of NLSIU between September 3, 2020 and September 10, 2020 in order to register for NLAT 2020.

NLAT 2020 Eligibility criteria

B.A LL. B

Candidate must have secured an unconditional pass and the minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent examination) as specified below:

  1. Aggregate percentage of 45% or its equivalent grade in case of General Category and PWD students.

  2. Aggregate percentage of 40% or its equivalent grade in case of SC/ST.

There is no upper age limit to apply.

LL.M

Candidates must have secured an LL.B. or equivalent degree from a recognized educational institution with an unconditional pass and the minimum percentage of marks as specified below:

  1. Aggregate percentage of 50% or its equivalent grade in case of General Category and PWD students. (ii) Aggregate percentage of 45% or its equivalent grade in case of SC/ST.

There is no upper age limit to apply.

NLAT 2020 Exam Pattern

NLSIU will conduct the NLAT 2020 exam will be conducted in online in home-proctored mode. The duration of the NLAT 2020 will be 45 minutes.

Total questions: 40 (multiple choice)

Maximum Marks: 80

Marking scheme:

  • each question will carry 2 marks

  • 0.50 marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer

  • 0.25 marks will be deducted if any question is left unanswered.

Candidates will get only one attempt to answer each question. One cannot revisit and change an answer option.

NLAT 2020 syllabus

NLAT 2020 will consist of five sections and the published format of the CLAT 2020 UG

  • English Language

  • Current Affairs Including General Knowledge

  • Legal Reasoning

  • Logical Reasoning

  • Quantitative Techniques.

NLAT 2020 General Comprehension

  • The NLAT 2020 UG will comprise 4 General Comprehension passages.

  • Each of these General Comprehension passages will be followed by 10 questions

NLAT 2020 admission criteria

Candidates will be shortlisted for the law programs solely based on their NLAT 2020 score.

  • Higher number of correct answers to Legal Reasoning Questions

  • Higher number of correct answers in the overall examination
