Le'Gala Inter-collegiate Festival |
LST is proud to announce the start of Le'Gala,
NLSIU's Inter collegiate Festival. Le'Gala begins on November 19,
2004 and will carry on till November 21. Learn more about the events
that make up Le'Gala and how it has become one of the biggest and
best organised college fests in the country.
NLSIU's inter-collegiate festival, Le'Gala
is acknowledged by participants to be one of the best and largest
in the country. In a short span of 7 years Le'Gala has eclipsed
many of India's best known festivals which have almost a half-century
of experience, in terms of absolute quality and sheer magnitude.
This year’s Fest scheduled for November
19-21, 2004 boasts a line-up of literary and cultural events
unrivalled anywhere for number, variety, standard of participation
and quality of organization. Wishing to maintain neutrality and
the spirit of competition, the students of NLSIU do not take part
in any of the events. The prize money is generous and the competition
intense, setting the stage for some of the best quizzes, dramatics,
song and dance, word-games jamming and the like. And to add to all
this, participants and spectators can take part in a whole host
of wild and whacky informal events.
The biggest attractions are the fashion extravaganza,
RampArt and the rock show, Strawberry Fields, which are now considered
separate festivals on their own due to scale of organisation for
these two events, although they are held simultaneously along with
the main Le'Gala festival and the Nationa Law School Debate.

The National Law School Debate - 2004
Results |
NLSIU has a long history of excelling in national
and international debating, where NLSIU has produced some of the
best university level debaters in the country winning several of
India's top level debating competition including three consecutive
wins at the Mukherjee Memorial Debate organised by St. Stephen’s
College, Delhi. NLISU teams have also participated abroad at various
international debating championships across the globe including
the Oxford Inter-varsity championships and the highly competitive
World Universities Debating Championship.
NLSIU began its own debate in 2002 and even in its
first edition it came to be recognised as possibly the
debate in India. It is the only debate in the country that employs
the highly competitive British Parliamentary-style of debating,
thus bringing the first wave of international quality debating to
India. In 2003 the NLS Debate grew bigger and better, with the debate
transcending national boundaries. Several teams from across South
Asia participated in the tournament and the presence of teams from
Pakistan drew considerable media attention to the debate. The team
from IIT Delhi won the 2003
debate.
2004 - Colleges from Lahore, Karachi,
Topi and Colombo along with Domestic teams from Delhi, Kolkata,
Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore have already registered
for participating in the 3rd National Law School Debate, scheduled
for November 18-21, 2004. That apart, this year’s
competition will be employing a thoroughly competitive and demanding
format spread over 4 days, which has been conceived and drafted
keeping in mind the characteristics of other prestigious international
debating competitions like the World Universities and All-Asian
championships.

The event is held over three days, with the grand-finale on Sunday

RampArt |
RampArt is the National Law School’s
annual inter-collegiate fashion extravaganza, attracting participation
from Bangalore’s finest colleges. It is an incredible opportunity
for India’s budding fashion designers and models to showcase
their talents to a wide audience. Held simultaneously with Le’Gala
and Strawberry Fields, the crowd and publicity that RampArt attracts
is truly of mammoth proportions. Held for the first time in the
year 2000 at The Club, Bangalore – one of the city’s
most popular discotheques, it became a runaway success and has always
aspired to new heights.
In 2003, RampArt gave away prizes worth Rs. 50,000
and even attracted participation from Pakistan, a first for any
Indian inter-collegiate fashion event. RampArt has also served as
a launch pad for several models who have subsequently gone on to
hit it big in the mainstream fashion and advertising industry. In
fact, Rampart 2003’s Face of the Year, Ms. Deepika Padukone,
is now the face of Close-Up, Liril, and several other products.
With increasing popularity among Bangalore’s fashion enthusiasts,
RampArt 2004 is all set to be one of India’s finest college
fashion events.
