Government Law College, Mumbai (GLC)

About GLC

Government Law College (GLC) was established in the year 1855. It is the oldest Law College in Asia. The college holds a pre- eminent reputation for excellence in the field of legal education. The college is alma mater to some of India's most prominent Supreme Court and High Court Judges who have pronounced the greatest of judgements and legal doctrines that revolutionised the legal environment. The Library at GLC houses over 42,000 books, some of which cannot be found in any other library in India. The library also possesses the original copy of the Indian Penal Code as drafted by Lord Macaulay in thr year 1886.

The candidates are selected on the basis of group discussion followed by a personal interview conducted by a panel of experts For Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights

The candidate are selected on the basis of merit list prepared according to the marks procured in the final year of relevant degree examination

GLC Eligibility

For B.L.S, LL.B

The candidates passing SSC and HSC Examination from a recognized institution or the candidates passing equivalent examination from a recognized board/ university of India or outside or from Secondary Board or equivalent, constituted or recognized by the Union or by a State Government, with at least 45% in aggregate | 40% marks in aggregate in case of SC and ST applicants from the state of Maharashtra

For LL.B

The candidate should be a Graduate and or Post Graduate in any faculty/discipline of knowledge of any University established by an act of Parliament or by the State Legislature or an equivalent National Institution recognized as a Deemed to be University or Foreign University recognized as equivalent to the status of an Indian University by an Authority competent to declare equivalence, with minimum 45% Marks in aggregate for Open Category candidates ( i.e. 45% Marks for all the parts of the Degree Examination taken together), and 40% Marks in aggregate in degree examination in all parts of the Degree Examination for candidates belonging to SC and ST Category belonging to State of Maharashtra only

For Post Graduate Diploma Course in Securities Law

A candidate passing Bachelor's degree examination of the Mumbai University, in any faculty or a corresponding degree examination of any other University recognised, is eligible for admission in this course

For Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Rights

Graduate from any faculty from a recognized university
