'Law and Behold' - The Times of India writes on the legal option in India

Indian Law Schools have emerged as first option of choice for a large number of bright students passing out of schools each year. Gone are the days when every student worth his or her salt used to dream of admission into the IITs and every graduate into the IIMs. The current trend, in terms of salary, shows that National Law Schools are giving close competition to IITs and IIMs. For example, the highest domestic salary last year at the IIM (Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta) was 14 lakhs, and at NLSIU, Bangalore it was 10 Lakhs. Furthermore, NLSIU also boasts of a 100% placement record. With the opening up of the economy and increase in FDI, lawyers have never had it better!!

Emerging areas like Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), Cyber Law, Competition Law, etc., are throwing up new and challenging job opportunities to lawyers, and Law Schools are vamping up their delivery capacities to keep up. In fact, some Law Schools like NLSIU, Bangalore are now being wooed by foreign law firms. A few students from this prestigious institution have already been placed in international law firms like Morgan & Walker, Linklaters, etc. It is expected that the current boom in the economy is only going to make things better and more lucrative for young law graduates.
