Overall this section was similar to last year. One anomaly of this section was the haphazard manner of RC questions rather than the oft-used chronological order. Unlike last year, the 1 RC passage had 10 questions rather than 5. The cloze test was slightly difficult to interpret and might have led to a couple of errors. The other questions were along similar lines to last year. Ideally a student should have attempted 34-36 questions in about 22-25 minutes

The General Knowledge section in this year's paper was dominated by current affairs, just like last few years, however many questions were from static GK as well. However, the red herring was that candidates were expected to remember a substantiate chunk of data on various aspects of the issues. A good attempt in this section would be about 37-40 questions.

This section was not as easy as CLAT 2017. The entire section was dominated by Analytical Reasoning. Questions from Arrangements, Directions, Blood Relations, Series, coding decoding and ranking appeared in the section. Overall it was a moderate section in terms of Analytical Reasoning. The Verbal Reasoning part was slightly better with the Critical Reasoning questions being slightly tricky. Overall an attempt of 30 questions in 30 minutes would have been ideal.

As always, this section of the paper had 20 questions. It was the most difficult QA section over the last three years. The paper touched base with almost every topic of Mathematics. While, last year, there were 19 questions from Arithmetic itself, this year the paper was much more balanced with only 10 questions from Arithmetic (please go through the table below for the complete break-up). The surprise element of this section were the 3 lengthy questions on Simplification. Ideally, a student shouldn�t spend more than 10 minutes, aiming to attempt about 5-6 question.

The legal aptitude section was the saving grace this year among all the sections. Not exactly a cakewalk, but it was easy overall (except for a couple of tricky questions). There were 17 Legal Knowledge questions, four Statement assumptions and one Reasoning Assertion. Legal Reasoning was fairly distributed with six questions from Law of Contracts, seven from Law of Torts, and four on Constitution. Rest of the questions needed basic reasoning and no prior knowledge of Legal Aptitude. There were no questions from fringe subject areas such as Intellectual Property, Family Law and International Law just like 2017. As most of the questions were easy and direct, LST students would not have faced any problem, due to their familiarity with the study material and mocks.

The overall cutoff for the top 3 NLUs should fall to about 124-125 marks.
